This wine is a soft and velvety Merlot combined with the more powerful Cabernet Sauvignon grapes producing a luscious red wine. The reason this blend works so well is that the two varieties complement each other allowing a fuller flavour wine with an all round mouth feel.

The Private Bin series has been inspired by the McGuigan family tradition to always share a special family wine with their guest. Deep purple in colour. Classic aromas of lifted blackcurrant, blackberry and mint on the nose. Flavours follow through of sweet berry-fruit accented by fresh muddled mint. Elegant, structured palate with big velvety tannins.

Often known as 'Baby Grange', Bin 389 was first crafted by legendary Penfolds winemaker Max Schubert in 1960, combining the structure of Cabernet Sauvignon with the richness of Shiraz. The 2020 vintage captures this enduring style with a deep garnet hue and enticing aromas of black cherry, ripe plum, baking spices and vanilla, complemented by savoury notes of cracked pepper and Kalamata olive. The palate is generous and full, with red liquorice and cherry providing a sweet counterpoint to layers of fennel, radicchio and Moroccan-spiced lamb, while evolved tannins and fresh structure carry the wine to a long, persistent finish. Already rewarding, it has the depth and balance to cellar beautifully through to 2050.

The Cabernet Sauvignon grape varietal is widely planted across South Australia's premium wine regions, particularly in the Limestone Coast where grapes with tremendous structure and beautiful aromatics are found. Well-regarded since its launch in 2002, the Koonunga Hill Cabernet Sauvignon showcases the merits of multi-regional blending to Penfolds 'House Style'. A bold, full bodied wine displaying lovely aromatics, excellent structure, and great length.

A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon parcels sourced from vineyards throughout the Barossa. The fruit is fermented for up to 14 days, then aged for 12 months in a mix of French and American oak. Individual parcels of fruit are matured separately to maximise the blend's complexity and finalised through a selection process. The resulting wine is rich and concentrated with aromas of ripe dark berry fruits, blackcurrants and plums with mint and varietal leafy notes. The palate is plush with flavours balanced by fine, textural tannins.

Aromas of ripe red currants, blackberries with hints of sage, mint and toasty oak. The palate shows subtle red fruits while having some grainy long tannins. Dual appellation - Langhorne Creek and McLaren Vale.

Crafted by the next generation of Peter Lehmann winemakers, The Barossan Cabernet Sauvignon celebrates the exceptional fruit of the Barossa Valley. Sourced from renowned growers across the region's celebrated sub-regions, each vineyard contributes its own distinctive character, creating a wine of richness, depth and regional expression. Layers of ripe blackcurrant and dark berry fruit are complemented by savoury herbal notes, subtle cigar-box complexity and fine, supple tannins, delivering a smooth, full-bodied Cabernet with a long, satisfying finish.

The grapes were picked at between 13.5 to 14.0 Baume to produce the fruit flavours that are required to make this great wine. The grapes were fermented in a mixture of vessels to produce as much colour and flavour as possible. Portion of the wine underwent oak during fermentation and once dry, the remaining went to oak until the right balance was achieved. Careful tasting and blending, by Quarisa's winemaker, help produce this wine of style and great value for money.

Rich red berry flavours (grenache) then earth and spice and plums (shiraz) and thirdly a long, leafy back-palate (yes, mataro - you've worked this game out now, haven't you...) The sum, however, is much more than the parts. The tannins are neat but not in any way unnoticed. Acidity holds the line. The pure fruit and berry notes are balanced by the tannins and the oak's spice.

Generous yet structured with abundant cassis flavours, subtle hints of mint and spice transitioning to a long, polished finish.

This is a wine of great intensity. It has distinctive blackcurrant and cassis fruit flavours. Subtle oak characters of cedar cigar box and spice are also evident. The tannins are fine and elegant - a hallmark of the varietal. The palate is well balanced, complex and fulfilling and lingers on the finish.
