Nola's Tawny is produced from high quality red grapes that are aged in wooden barrel's exposing them to gradual oxidation and evaporation. As a result of this oxidation, Nola's Tawny mellows to a golden-brown colour. Nola's Tawny is hand crafted following a very unique process that has been passed down the Nola family for generations, creating a great taste of aged Tawny, whilst encompassing a rich mellow port nose. Steeped in Penfolds history, Grandfather Rare Tawny 20 Year Old traces its origins to 1915, when a cask of the winery's finest Tawny was reserved exclusively for the Penfold family. Today, that legacy lives on through a meticulous solera system, where carefully selected parcels are matured in seasoned oak before being blended to achieve a minimum average age of 20 years, delivering exceptional depth, balance and consistency. Layers of raisin, rich fruitcake, liquorice and roasted walnuts unfold on the nose, revealing remarkable freshness despite its extended maturation. The palate is luxuriously full and rounded, with classic fruitcake flavours, subtle vanillin oak and a seamless richness that lingers long after each sip. Taylor's Fine Ruby, a blend of full bodied Port wines aged for around two years in large oak vats in Taylor's cellars, or 'lodges', in Vila Nova de Gaia. Stylish fruity nose, full of intense concentrated blackcurrant and cherry aromas. Full bodied and firm, the palate is crammed with luscious black fruit flavours.

Taylor's Fine Tawny Port is particularly popular in Continental Europe where it is drunk predominantly as an aperitif. For those preferring a lighter style, this versatile Port can also be enjoyed after meals. Mellow nose of succulent ripe berry fruit with aromas of butterscotch, figs and prunes interwoven with attractive nutty and spicy aromas. Smooth and round on the palate, full of rich strawberry jam flavours.

This blend was carefully put together for this limited edition from specially selected Ports from Taylor's extensive aged Tawny stocks, aged in seasoned oak Port pipes. At the beginning of the 18th century, bottles were hand blown and bulbous in shape. As the 18th century progressed, bottles became taller and more cylindrical. The first stage in this evolution was the appearance of the 'mallet' shaped bottle which had become well established in England by around 1730. Their sides were often tapered towards the shoulder rather than completely parallel. However, by around 1750, the 'mallet' bottle had developed a more cylindrical form. This Limited Edition bottle is inspired by the 'mallet-cylinder' bottle from that period, the immediate predecessor of today's cylindrical wine bottle.

Ruby port is all about youthful fruit and flavour intensity, and this port delivers perfectly. The nose is ripe and lifted displaying blackberry, raisin and spice characters. The palate is supple and rich with fine tannins and a lovely warm alcohol finish.
