Much has been said and written about the Gimblett Gravels area being fantastic for Syrah. Babich was a pioneer of this region and this wine comes from the famous Babich Irongate vineyard. It is an accessible middleweight Syrah that's big on berry fruit, sprinkled with spice and pepper.

This little Rosé has aromas of strawberry and rock melon with spice and stone fruits. Strawberry again on entry with raspberry and apple. Soft and nicely structure with mouth-watering, tangy red fruits. Lively and balanced - dry finish.

Joe Babich favours 'a fuller, riper, softer style of Sauvignon Blanc'. It's not a jump out of the glass style, but the wines develop well. The latest releases reflect a rising input of grapes from the company's Cowslip Valley vineyard in the Waihopai Valley, which gives less herbaceous fruit characters that it's other Marlborough vineyards. Church Road Chardonnay is a blend of wines from their best vineyards in the Tuki Tuki river valley, grown and crafted to deliver a full-bodied yet refined wine. This cooler wine growing district delivers beautifully fragrant Chardonnay with weight, minerality and fresh natural acidity. Subtle citrus, citrus flower, mineral, ripe melon, fig and hazelnut on the palate. The palate is full but elegant, with a seam of minerality adding length and balance.

The McDonald Series wines are an expression of both their fruit and the vision of their namesake winemaker. The finest free run juice was barrel fermented in predominantly older French oak to produce this finely textured, elegant Chardonnay. Vibrant citrus and stonefruit flavours are overlaid with subtle creamy oak and complexities of toasted hazelnut and brioche.

Hand harvested and gently whole bunch pressed to craft a finely textured, complex and age-worthy style of Sauvignon Blanc. Vibrant flavours of quince, nectarine, pink grapefruit and elderflower are complimented by a flinty minerality, notes of roasted cashew nut and a subtle creaminess derived from wild fermentation and lees aging in French oak.

The Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon blend is one of the most challenging and exciting wine styles to produce. There is a synergy between Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot that produces arguably the most complete, complex, fragrant and satisfying style of red wine in the world. Grown in the warm climates and light, stony soils of the Bridge Pa Triangle and Gimblett Gravels - Church Road Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon has a core of dark berry fruit, cherry and plum that is lifted by top notes of subtle spice, violet, rosewood and cedar. Medium weight on the palate initially, before building to a long, substantial finish.

This wine was grown at Church Road's Matapiro Vineyard in the cooler Crownthorpe Terraces sub-region of Hawke's Bay. This is their most elevated and inland vineyard, where greater fluctuations between day and night-time temperatures are perfect for cultivating aromatics and acidity. Ripe pear, floral and spice aromas are evident on the nose. This Pinot Gris has a fine acid balance and a touch of natural sweetness that helps to build a palate that is soft and approachable, yet still elegant and fresh.

Found in 1897, Church Road combines traditional winemaking techniques with modern thinking and innovation to craft premium, complex wines. The wine has rich pink tones, with aromas of bright raspberry and strawberry fruits. On the palate fine texture and fleshy through the mid palate, finishing with a gentle sweetness, balanced by a crisp acidity and a lingering finish. Serve as an aperitif or with cured pork or salmon.
